UFC fighter Michael Chandler provided an update on his possible fight with Conor McGregor in a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.
Chandler and McGregor spent the better part of this year having off-field bouts with one another. The two were supposed to have a grand fight at UFC 296 but that couldn’t happen as the Notorious failed to meet UFC’s policy of six months of mandatory drug testing after which UFC boss announced announced Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington will headline the final UFC show of the year.
Chandler took to his X account, where he stated he hopes that in the upcoming meeting in Dubai which will take place on Friday, UFC boss Dana White will be able to convince McGregor to back his words and compete in the octagon.
“I heard there was a meeting in Abu Dhabi or Dubai tonight…hopefully Dana can convince @TheNotoriousMMA to be a man of his word…but we all make claims we can’t back up at times…it’s human nature…I don’t fault him for it,” Chandler posted on X.
“Imagine saying it, “the greatest comeback in combat sports history” and then doing a whole sham of a documentary about it, and then never coming back. @TheNotoriousMMA McGregor FORGOTTEN.”
The last time McGregor was in the octagon was during his fight against Dustin Poirier after which he spent almost two years out of action following a nasty leg break at UFC 264 in July 2021.
After 2.5 years of hard work, the Irishman is ready to fight inside the octagon once again but he would need to meet UFC’s six-month drug testing policy.
He was reported to make a comeback in December in a fight against Chandler this year but the Notorious failed to meet UFC’s policy of six months of mandatory drug testing.
